Position Summary
IREX seeks applicants for an immediate opening for the position of Program Director of its Social Media | Social Action Program. The Program Director will oversee all management, operational and program activities. S/he will oversee the IREX Amman office and lead a small team of four program staff to provide trainings, technical assistance, sub grants and material/curriculum development to strengthen the ability of youth-focused civil society organizations in North Africa and Middle East region to use web and mobile-based technologies to increase positive civic engagement. Some regional travel may be required.

The Social Media | Social Action Program connects youth-focused NGOs across the Middle East region with technology tools useful for advancing their work and increasing civic participation. The program also helps these organizations build a catalogue of technology resources so that other organizations can benefit from their expertise. More information about SMSA can be found at: and its activities at This program is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative whose mission is to create vibrant partnerships between America and the citizens of the Middle East and North Africa to empower them to build more pluralistic, participatory, and prosperous societies throughout the region.

Duties & Responsibilities
Overall responsibility for coordination and implementation of program activities, including providing strategic guidance to staff and playing an integral role in the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program activities as well as ensuring that program deliverables are being met

Pursue options for new regional partnerships and activities within the program’s mandate

Maintain effective relations and coordination with IREX/USA staff and program partners including subgrantees, contractors, government liaisons and the donor

Recruit appropriate consultants and negotiate terms and scopes of work in accordance with IREX policies

Support and ensure that the work of staff and consultant training activities and training curricula are of high standard and are meeting program objectives

Ensure that all fiscal and performance activities are in compliance with IREX policies and procedures & USG regulations.

Provide supervision, mentoring and guidance to program staff and oversee IREX staff support to sub grantee staff

University degree in relevant field, masters preferred

Minimum 7 years experience in international development, preferably with some of that period focused on utilizing technology-based approaches to strengthening civic engagement

Strong Team Leadership skills and ability create a productive working environment for staff

Contextual understanding of the challenges and opportunities of strengthening t

Superior writing, editing and oral presentation skills, evidenced by professional experience and success

Strong organizational skills including ability to prioritize and multi-task

Demonstrated program management experience; field management experience preferred

Flexibility, and enthusiasm for IREX programs

Experience working in North Africa/Middle East preferred

Arabic skills strongly preferred

During the training, he attended two months internship in The Apparel Source, Tamil Nadu, India. He is a current Student at the International Institute for Global Leadership, USA.
